Sisters
Before you ever needed a best friend, you had your sister.
Over the span of your life, many relationships come and go. All sorts of people see you at different stages of your life and know you only in a particular context. But your sister has been there for your entire life (or nearly so.) She might remember you in the bathtub, at the dinner table, and in the quiet spaces of your home. She was the live-in playmate, the keeper of secrets, and the backup reserve of confidence, courage, and comfort. At times she may also have been the challenger, the enemy, or the perceived threat. She danced to the same rhythms of life, understood the unspoken language, knew why the inside jokes were so funny, and can now see the humor in the things that weren’t funny at the time. Most importantly, she can can put all of that together and make sense of the whole person you are today. Documenting that bond deserves more than snapshots.
